Heart Investigation 1.2: {Torn}

Hey everyone! I'm here with you guys again today; sorry that I wasn't able to share anything with you guys yesterday. I wanted to, but my brothers had some friends over, and we were playing Call of Duty. I was distracted. And I didn't do any are at all.

So today I wanted to make up for that, and do yet another Heart Investigation page. I've really been enjoying this, and my 2013 journal in and of itself actually looks really cool. It's a bit more cohesive than my journals have been in the past, which I really enjoy. 

Today I was working with a daisyyellow prompt; the very first Prompt6ix prompt. There are quite a few more that I have to catch up with, but I was inspired to attempt this one. And I personally quite enjoy the result.

Quite a few of these pages still need journaling added to them, and I will eventually get to that. One day, when I'm really in the mood to get some of my emotions out, I'll get my typewriter out, and just type a bunch of journaling segments based on page titles. 

In this photo, you can see some of the heart pencil doodles I did in the background of this page. I only had a couple of layers down when I decided to add them in. I thought it would look cool, and would just add that much more depth to the idea for the page. And I think that it accomplished what I wanted it to. I personally quite enjoy it.

That's something that I've noticed myself saying quite a bit more as of late. And I wouldn't say that's necessarily a bad thing. It's good that I'm confident in myself. That I enjoy my own work. Of course I love looking at other artist's work. Much more than I enjoy looking at my own. But when I can look at my own personal piece of art and smile, I feel a sense of accomplishment. That's always a good thing.

Finally, I'll talk about the heart itself that I was working on. After all, this is HEART Investigation. The idea for the page came from the prompt on daisyyellow, one of which was "decision". I can never make tough decisions. And it's a horrible feeling for me personally. So I'm always extremely torn internally. So I took a heart, and I tore it in half. Meaning on multiple levels. That's also something that I enjoy in artwork, or in any type of media, including books or movies. And that is a meaning. A good concept. It draws you in, and interests you. That's what I'm trying to accomplish with my art. An intrigue. A pull. Something that makes people want to look.

31 Hearts and ICAD

Hey guys. I have a bit of a shorter post for all of you guys today, as I'm trying out a new setup for the blog, and this is part of the transition. I did a bunch of other art stuff today as well, but I'm going to be sharing that stuff later this week. Let's just say that, with the new set up, I hope to have some days specifically for some of the projects that I have started in the past; such as my work through of the book Collage Unleashed, and my Creative Experiments posts. As well as some tutorials, hopefully. Also, I have a bunch of In The Sun class pages that I'm hoping to share with you guys later this week. However, for the time being, I would like to share just a couple things, starting us out with my 31 Hearts page.

As I've said before, I've really enjoyed these pages. And today, I decided to use the hearts around the edges of the page as a sort of border instead of the main focus of the page, which I have tried in the past. You guys have seen plenty of those. And I have plenty more of those ideas to come. I just thought that it would be a good idea to add some variety in. Everybody needs some of that, right? I think so. I do like the way that this page looks though. It's really starting to grow on me. I love the texture that was achieved, even though I'm not really sure how I got it.

And today, I'm also going to share my ICAD with you guys. You can see the zebra striped heart? That was a stamp that I made out of fun foam and cardboard from a cereal box.I love the way that these stamps turned out (I made two of them, with one being the reverse of the other), and thought that this card turned out pretty good. It was nice doing a bunch of painting, after so much doodling. At least I thought it was.

30-30-30 Challenge + ICAD #28

Hey everyone! How are you guys doing today? I'm doing better than I was yesterday; I guess I just felt like I was having a bit of an off day. I'm better today though. I like the way that the stuff turned out. It seems that I just go through my phases. Today's 30-30-30 page was a bit more collage based than were some of my previous pages. I just painted on the border, and then worked the collage in the center. As I was working on this, I didn't really know what to expect. But I decided to just push through anyways and seeing what became of it. After flipping through a few pages of a magazine, I produced this image.

From there it was just a matter of working the collage at the bottom half of it. I experimented with a strip of paper that had large holes punched into it with a circle punch, and let some of the earlier layers show through. Then I added the piece that says 'trust'. These pieces that I've been using for titles lately were actually part of a punch out sheet that came with a pack of paper. They sometimes include those alongside stickers. Which I think is pretty cool. If you know how to use them.

Here's a bit of a better view of the collage, just for your enjoyment. And, of course, the journaling for this page was around the very edges of the page. I've been thinking lately about how I'm going to want to bind this, but I'm really not too sure yet. I'll figure it out. I will. Believe me.

And here is today's ICAD. I LOVE the imperfection of this piece! It was one of the very most basic ones that I have done thus far; it was composed of a single layer of media. 

I used a feather pen to draw lines all over the card with blue ink. It was super easy, but it gave me a very effective look. It didn't take very long either, which was cool. Sometimes I want to sit down and work for a long time on a card, but today wasn't really like that. I really just wanted to work on my workshop. Which I did. I did some videos. It was pretty cool. I'm really getting somewhere with this, and there might be an announcement coming up fairly soon. :) Anyways. I'll see you guys tomorrow. Bye!
