Quick Update - Dr. Who

Hey guys. I know that I'm late coming in today. And I know that there seem to be more and more of these "short post or no post at all" days. But I'm really trying to fix that. Today I wasn't really so much busy as I was sucked in. Sucked into Dr. Who that is. I was seeing a whole bunch of stuff about it all over pinterest and tumblr, and I just couldn't control myself. I had to watch an episode. And even though the rest of my family was done with it after about two episodes (right when we started getting to the aliens; figures) I just couldn't leave it at that. I wasn't totally sucked in at that point. I kind of liked the idea, but it hadn't grabbed me yet. Then I decided to give it another chance. And I was sold on it. Totally and completely sold. I just finished the first season today, and started the second. It's kind of weird because of... certain aspects (people who have watched it will know what I'm talking about; I don't want to give any spoilers), but I'm sure I'll get used to it. And I like it. A lot.

ANYWAYS. Stepping away from the Dr. Who aspect of it all, I really didn't do that much today. I did a little art, but not much, which explains the photo above. I'm fairly certain that it's been shown here on the blog before. But I didn't want to leave you photo-less as I ranted about television shows I like. And that's that. I'll have some more art for you guys tomorrow, I promise. I missed it.

A Really Quick Update Post

Okay guys. So sorry that I'm so late today, but at least I have a good excuse. I went to movie with a friend around 3:30. I didn't know how long I was going to be out, and got back around 10:00. Then I watched the first episode of Dr. Who with my Mom. I did this art while I was watching that show, and, even though it's not super advanced or anything, I'll share it with you anyways.

The first thing is, of course, my 30-30-30 page. That's just the way I roll. Plus, even though it's a really basic collage, I do like it. A lot. I think that I really was able to express what I wanted to, even without words. Which I really like. I don't even think that I'm going to add a title to it. I was thinking about something like 'Wonky', but I decided to bail on that. I like it better plain. And I think it's more powerful.

And the other thing that I wanted to share with you was my ICAD. I think this is my first card that I did that was made up completely of words. In one color. That doesn't focus on design as much as the words themselves. Which I think is important. This was also one of the weekly prompts; "Record a moment in words". This was my representation of that.

Well, I hope you guys have a good rest of the night, and I'll see you later! Bye!

30-30-30, In The Sun, ICAD2, and Summer of Color

So here I am. Back with you again for yet another art-filled post. I hope you enjoy. Today I'd like to start you guys off with my 30-30-30 challenge page for today. This is today's piece, and I will show you the piece that I was telling you guys about yesterday. The one that I forgot to take pictures on. So anyways, let's talk about this one first. I used a quote today that I absolutely love. It's by Dr. Seuss, and it says:

"Today you are you, that is truer than true; there is no on alive that is youer than you."
                                               -Dr. Seuss

And I absolutely love that quote. It's amazing. Plus, I really love the way this page turned out. It's a little more pink than I'm used to, but that's okay. I like it anyways.

And here is the page from yesterday that I forgot to photograph. I like the way that this one turned out as well, even though it's a little bit dark for my taste. The journaling that I did on it was basically just words that I believed were, or could be 'Mystic', which was the title that I had chosen for this page. I love the way that this turned out as well.

I also made another batch of papers today; this time I used the Week 2 colors from the Summer of Color. I already talked about it here; go ahead and check it out if you want to. The colors for this week were based around Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, and so the colors were a mint green and a dark brown. These are what I came up with. I didn't spend as much time on these ones as I did on the other ones, because, quite frankly, I didn't know what to do with them. I was legitimately confused. They were weird colors to work with for me. I hope that everyone else had an easier time with it. :)

Next up we have my ICAD card. This is my 18th index card for this challenge, and I think that I'm doing very well with it. I used the prompt 'swirl' for today's car, and you can probably see it pretty well. At least I hope you can. For some reason I was having difficulty with this prompt, with getting it to turn out the way that I wanted it to. I think it turned out decent though, so I'm happy.

Last, but certainly not least, I have my In The Sun page for today. I took a bit of a break from this journal over the weekend, as the prompts weren't being given; just catch up days and photo prompts. Which is fine by me. But today's prompt was to do a black and white photo transfer and then color it in with oil pastels, or any other material that you could find that would work. But here was the problem. My image transfer didn't work.

You see that gray layer? In the back there? Yeah. That's my image transfer. My failed one. it ended up as a plain gray square. No image at all. It was kind of sad. But I decided to continue on anyways. I added some other magazine images to the page, along with a bunch of layers of doodling. Love the way this little bit looks, especially. So many yummy layers that I simply love!

And here was the title. Where it counts. The other part of today's prompt was to form your page about what it is that you wished for TODAY. I wished that I would be able to put my energy where it counts. In my opinion, at this time in my life, that's what matters.

'Tears' Art Journal Page

Hey everybody!
Sorry that the picture I've got for all of you today isn't the greatest.
Today, I sadly didn't have any time to work on anything creative.
It was my first day back to school after Thanksgiving break, which lasted for a week.
The teachers assigned tons of homework.
And I still had to get my words for NaNoWriMo.
 But I'm still posting.
Hopefully after November is over, my art count will go up.
Except I will still be working with my book.
Finishing the thing.
And editing and crap.

But anyways.
Back to the point that I was going for.
I'm sharing a page with you today that you may or may not have already seen.
I posted it a little while back, but I added to it.
You also may have see it on the journal flip video I posted a few days ago.
I added the white dots to the title.
Also, the two pieces of ephemera are new.
Other than that, it's the same that it's always been.
I know that it's not that cool today, but I thank you for checking in with me here!
You guys really don't understand how much your views, and more specifically your comments and suggestions mean to me.
If you ever have any suggestions for the blog; any suggestions at all.
Make sure to leave me a comment.
I'm always checking all of the posts (there's a setting that allows me to do that).
And it makes me happy when I see a new one.
But anyways.
That's what I've got for you guys today, and I'll see you tomorrow!
Bye!

Hey Guys!! An Update.

Hey guys, how's it going?? Sorry I haven't really been around much the last couple of weeks, but, in case you haven't heard, we are moving from a small town in Ohio to a much larger town in Florida. And it's coming in just mere weeks. Actually about two. So all of my crafting stuff is officially packed up and has been put in the "pod" in following my Mom's orders. So I probably won't be able to post on here for a little while; maybe as much as a month, so we can settle in. I'm going to miss all of you guys for that time, but I promise I'll be back!

Art Update

Okay, so technically I was planning to do an update on my Collage Unleashed project today, but I really couldn't work on ANYTHING today. You see in the picture above; the current disaster that is my art studio. It is a MESS. I'm packing up stuff for our move. It's actually really hard for me to decide what to keep out f0r my work and what to put away. The reason for this is that I use so many different things in my work. I never know what I'm going to need. I think what I'm going to end up doing is just pack up most of it, and then just pull out of the box. That's all I'm going to say today... sorry it's so short. See you guys later!!

TOTALLY PIC HEAVY POST!!

Hey all you people!! I managed to make it back here today with yet another post. Sorry that there wasn't one yesterday, but this one's really long and pic heavy to make up for that. I don't know about you guys, but when I'm on a forum, or even a blog, I LOVE to see tons of pictures. There are a lot of people who apologize for that, but I just love to see all different angles and pictures. :P It could just be me though.

The first thing I wanted to share with you guys a bunch of envelopes I've been saving - rescuing from the mail in fact. I know that probably sounds kind of weird to you, and maybe even a bit hoarder type thing to do. But trust me, it's not. I have a specific project that I'm saving these for... I'll be able to share it with you soon hopefully. It's going to be a journal type album THING. Yeah. That's about the best description that I've got. But I'm gonna need a LOT more envelopes. These are used ones that I got in the mail. I was just lucky enough to get some colored ones. If any of you guys have any you'd like to donate to the cause... that'd be cool. :P

Another thing that I've been thinking about doing lately is a Dear Jane quilt. I started one a while back, but the different things didn't quite fit, and the size was waaaay off. So I'm just going to start over. :D I know it's sort of a bad idea, and kind of wasteful, but I think it's just worth starting over, in order to make it look nicer. Sometimes there's no other choice. Do you agree?

This is a little piece of folded, knit fabric that I managed to salvage from a tee shirt that was too small for me. You know, the ones that you don't want to throw away since the fabric is soooo cool, but you don't know what you'd want to do about it? I take them apart using a seam ripper, and most of the time manage to get really large chunks of knit fabric. You can actually also use cotton shirts for cheap quilting fabric.

Here are the scraps that I have leftover from taking apart the shirt. It was a care bears shirt, that was rimmed around the sleeves and neckline with the pink fabric shown above. Yeah. And I got all of that fabric from just one shirt. It makes you think though, doesn't it?

It's been a little while since I posted a picture of my cross stitch progress. So here's one for you. I've got quite a bit further, and I've got about three full cars done, one half done, and one not even started yet. :) I just love working on cross stitch though, since the more hours that you put into it, the more the shading develops and the better it starts to look. But this definitely isn't a one day project. Six months perhaps. But definitely not a day. Or a week. Or probably not even a month. I just like working on it cause it's so calming to play with the colored threads. But it's not too difficult.

Here's another calming endeavor that I love to do, even though I just dug this out of my many boxes this morning. It's a quilt that I'm making. I'm actually working on the quilting part currently, stitching the three layers (top, batting, and backing) together with tiny little stitches. BY HAND!! Of course, I guess I could use my machine, but I decided that I'd rather practice my stitching by hand, since I kind of stink at it. I'm getting better with practice though, I think.

Here's a closer up view so you can sort of see how the pattern goes. It's taking a LOT more work than I originally anticipated, but it's relaxing to try it every now and again...

And... I FINISHED MY GLOVES!! I don't know if you can see the cable pattern too well in these, but they really turned out well. On one of the gloves (the right one I think) the seam I did made the thumb hole a little too high, so I'm going to need to rip it out and do it over. It doesn't look bad, it's just a little bit uncomfortable to wear. So I think I'll do it over. But it doesn't look bad at all. At least I don't think so. But of course, I'm totally biased. XD

One last picture before I go; another quilt that I just laid out - the diamonds are blocks, but there are only twelve of them. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to make it bigger. Right about now it's pretty darn small, but I sort of like the size of it. I think I'll just have to wait and see.

Another thing that I'd like to share with you guys is that you probably won't be seeing me for somewhere around a week, starting Monday. My mom is cutting us off from screens for a week, and that includes blogs and stuff. But luckily, she's still going to let me find my patterns and stuff online. Thank heavens. Without that stuff, I'd probably be lost. :D

One last thing that I'd like to leave you mulling on - I'm starting another project sometime soon. I know, I know. I just started another project the other day. But I can't help it. I found an amazing tutorial HERE, and I about DIED looking at it. It's crazy. And it's totally me. Anyways, I'll probably see you guys tomorrow, but if not, then next week!!
