In The Sun Class: Day 3 + ICAD & 30-30-30

Hey everyone! Guess who it is! Yep. You got it. Jordan. I'm back with you guys yet again, with a bunch more art to share with you guys. Some more progress on some of the projects that I've been working on. The first thing that I want to share with you guys is my 30-30-30 page. This is the fourth one that I've done thus far, and I really like the way that they've been progressing. The first one was definitely the hardest one, and I really didn't like the way it turned out. But they have been getting progressively better, and I really like todays.

The format is definitely a little bit different than what I'm used to, but I'm getting used to it. I think that it's a good time to try it. When I have a new challenge. To just challenge myself that much more. I also did some stitching on this page, which I was starting to regret a little bit near the end of the page. Since I do have a 30 minute time constraint while doing these pages, it was kind of a time consuming technique to work with. But I really like the way that it turned out, so I don't even really care if I was kind of stressed in the moment. I think it's kind of funny though. I enjoy it.

Here's a little bit of a close up of some of the doodling that I ended up doing on this page. I used Faber Castell Pitt Pens to do all of the doodling, which I seem to have been doing a lot of lately. I really loved the colors that I was able to achieve with this page, though all I really did was put a wash of brown watercolor paint on the basic white cardstock background. But it ended up looking a little bit like kraft paper. So I think it turned out pretty good.

Also, when I had the pens out, and was doodling and journaling all over this page, I started to think that this girl might look a little bit better with some tattoos on her arms. I don't know why, but I really just think that it matched the overall mood and style of the page in general. And I really like the way that it turned out. And it seems to describe this part of my style pretty well.

Now onto my ICAD for the day. This is ICAD number 13, and the prompt that I used today was 'chaos'. When I started, the first thing I thought of was a bunch of crazy colors all over the place and letting everything mix together; all of the pattens and designs mixing together. And then, to make it better, just today Tammy updated her blog with another color prompt. And she prompted us to use 14 colors on our card. I didn't make a list of the ones that I used, but I did use fourteen colors. I thought it was cool that I could merge two of her challenges together. The color prompts and ICAD.

I also printed out the dictionary definition of chaos for this card. I thought that it would be a pretty good jumping off point to start building the card around. And it seemed to work out pretty well for me. Even though the card isn't necessarily the prettiest card in the world, I think that, in and of itself, is important. When there is chaos going on in real life; in your world - do you think that it's pretty? No. Not normally. It's normally pretty ugly. And I think that this card represents that.

Now. Last, but certainly not least, I have today's In The Sun Class page. I really love the way that Natalie's prompts are making me think in a different way. I don't normally work on my journals in this sort of way, even though I love the effect. I love how I can use less paint and more words, doodling, and photos, and still get my point across just as well.

Because I'm working in a homemade journal, with lots of different sized papers, it might be kind of hard for you guys to realize where this page stops; it simply stops where the blue stops. The tab is part of this page, as you can see below...

And here it is. A bit of a better view of the tab. I like to put these on my pages every now and again; I don't really know why, or what comes over me to make me want to put them on, but sometimes, when I'm working on a page, I'll just get the urge to put a tab and the date on a page. I think that it's kind of cool that I can tell everybody who will view this in the future (including me) when I made this. You know what I mean? I just think that it's a cool random element to add to an art journal at random intervals. But that could just be me.

So, as I have been saying all along; I like using prompts to inspire me for multiple reasons. One, they push my boundaries. They give me limits, and then tempt me to break them. They give me ideas. And I like that.
